What does God-led Creativity Look Like?

This is the fourth of 7 blogs on releasing your creative potential.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

We are God’s creation, his poem, his work of art. We’re carefully, lovingly created and formed for his exquisite pleasure and our deepest joy.

We’re created and formed for God’s purpose. His purpose is always good, although sometimes it does not feel that way.

We are God’s story. We’re living in God’s narrative. But there’s something even deeper than that. There’s love that supersedes and overwhelms all pain, struggle, and horror. Love that saved the human race through a barbaric nailing of the Son of God to a tree. A carpenter nailed to wood and lifted up for derisive display.

Our creative energy flows from this love; our destiny is shaped by it.

The opposite of this love is a false story. A story that says that our passion and destiny do not come from God. That our creative being is grounded in others, ourselves, or luck or fate. This false story strips our humanity from us, and leaves pain, struggle and horror unredeemed.

We run out of inspiration, energy, focus and purpose when we start and end with ourselves, expect more from others than they can give, and hope to win the lottery of artistic success. These things are all limited.

God is limitless. He is the embodiment of abundance and diversity. And this is what an artist can rely on for eternity.
